Versatile Upgrade Cable: A Must-Have for IEM Fans

I finally decided to upgrade the stock cable on several of my IEMs, and after some browsing on US shopping sites, I landed on the TRN T2 Pro16 Core Earphones Silver Plated HIFI Upgrade Cable 2.5 5-pin/3.5/4.4/Type C 5-pin/QDC//MMCX/0.75/0.78. The biggest draw for me was the sheer versatility offered by the multiple connection options—I needed something that could adapt to my 4.4mm balanced setup but still allow quick switching to 3.5mm for portable gear. This product promised exactly that flexibility in one package.

Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was how solid the build felt; it’s surprisingly flexible for a high-core cable, which makes managing it easy without inducing kinks. The interchangeable terminations are a standout feature; they work flawlessly and fit incredibly snugly. I've had issues with other modular cables where connections felt loose, but these ends—both the source connectors and the IEM ends—fit tight and definitely do not fall out inadvertently, which is reassuring when you're moving around.

Other buyers seem to feel similarly, noting that the fit is exactly as described and they feel much better built than most standard stock cables.

Sound-wise, it delivers a quality experience, sounding crisp and clear. While I haven't tested the Type-C DAC function extensively, the core performance using the balanced 4.4mm connection is excellent. I plan on using this for every IEM I own that lacks native multiple termination options because having the 4.4mm balanced connection available everywhere is a huge convenience.

It’s clear that TRN put thought into the robustness of the physical design, especially the ends.

If you own multiple high-fidelity IEMs and frequently switch between balanced and unbalanced sources, this cable is an absolute winner. It eliminates the need to buy separate proprietary cables for every scenario. While some users have noted inconsistent experience with the integrated DAC chip variants, if you are primarily after a high-quality, durable, and multi-connector upgrade cable, this performs beautifully.

I highly recommend adding the TRN T2 Pro16 Core to your audio arsenal; it truly is a versatile component that justifies its purchase by consolidating multiple needs into one well-made item.
